Claiborne Reborn

An EPA-funded project studying the public health impact of the Claiborne Expressway, involving community engagement and urban design recommendations.

In 2023, LSU and the Claiborne Avenue Alliance were awarded an EPA grant to study the public health impact of the Claiborne Expressway on the local population. It's a substantial undertaking that includes measuring air quality and noise in the surrounding neighborhoods, conducting traffic and land value assessments, and providing urban design recommendations in response to the analysis.
